Welcome back to tinywords!

Issue 12.1 is about to begin.

We are delighted and honored to be working as the new editors of tinywords. Thank you all for the wonderfully positive responses we’ve received regarding our new roles.  Thank you to Dylan Tweney, who with amazing forethought, started this daily journal way back in 2000. What he started with only a handful of readers on his e-mail list has grown to have the largest circulation of haiku (and small poems) in English with over 3,600 daily subscribers.

But subscribers need poems. And poems we have. Sorry to have kept you waiting.

Thanks to the many poets out there who shared their work with us for this issue, answering our call for submissions with great enthusiasm.

We received over 400 submissions totaling more than 1,100 poems and haiga. After a few weeks of reading and re-reading  the editorial team has chosen 57 to include here.  Final decisions were not easy and would not have been possible without the thoughtful help of associate editors Martin Gottlieb Cohen, David Serjeant and John Emil Vincent.

Thanks also to photographer Edward Brown, whose autumn leaves float down from Baltimore to grace tinywords 12.1.

We hope you enjoy reading this newest offering of tinywords as much as we have.

Peter Newton and Kathe L. Palka
